Mammoth Middle School Coaches

Positions Available

Head Coach

 

Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and Eastern Sierra Nordic Ski Association are seeking a qualified individual to run their junior program. Programs include CNISSF middle and high school teams, as well as a club junior competition team. The current teams are looking for an enthusiastic head coach, who will further develop our well established programs. Mammoth Lakes, CA offers a long ski season and many high quality dry land training venues.

  • 10 month position, hours ranging from 15-30 hours a week, depending on the season (June-March)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, USSA Level 100 mandatory, ski racing background and/or 2-4 years coaching experience required
  • Responsible for training planning and hands-on coaching of high school and comp teams
  • Oversight of middle school program, will work with middle school coach at some practices and at school races
  • Overall program development from Gliders through comp programs
  • Travel to school league races and Junior National Qualifiers
  • Work with Tamarack Cross Country to host school races and JNQ
  • Assist with fund-raising activities and work with volunteers
  • Create a good team culture together with assisting coaches
  • Develop strong communication with athletes and families
  • Foster relationships with local media; maintain presence on social media, update website and implement outreach for the club teams
  • Supplemental work opportunities available
  • Current programs are well developed and have strong parental support and experienced athletes; we are a small club in a small division, but routinely send multiple athletes to Junior Nationals. We have also won several State Championships as a team and individually
